Power stations

The electricity that we get out of plugs in our houses is produced in a power station. A power station is just a large electrical generator.

In a power station, fuel such a coal is burned and this produces heat. The heat then boils water and in turn this produces steam. The steam
is used then to drive a steam turbine and this causes the coil in the electrical generator to rotate and current is produced.
This current is then sent via transmission lines to your home for your use.
