Prerequisites Enough algebra and trigonometry
as summarized in the Appendices A-E.
Registration: Changes in course registration
including adding, dropping, and withdrawal will be made in Room 203 VAN.
Homework: Problems are posted on the web, please follow the
links from the main page for the course.
One problem will be selected at random from each assignment for
grading. Please draw a circle around the
problem number at the beginning of each solution and draw a box around your
final answer. Write your name on the
front and use a staple. Spiral notebook
pages should have the fringe trimmed.
Late homework will have the score reduced by 20% for each day late
unless prior arrangements are made with your TA.
Laboratory: The labs will be held under the supervision of
your teaching assistant, who will grade your homework and laboratory
reports. Discuss the grading of your
assignments with your TA. Your final lab grade will be determined by combining
8 best results (dropping the worst) out of 10 experiments. Your TAs are:
Xiaolong Liu (xiaolong-liu@uiowa.edu) and Timothy Harrington-Taber
(timothy-harrington-taber@uiowa.edu).
Exams: There will be four hourly exams and no
comprehensive final exam.
The

do your homework for you.
Posting of solutions: Homework solutions will be posted on the
web.
When to seek help from the
instructor (office hours):
Homework: when you don't understand a solution that has
been posted.
Exams: Questions about grading (it is not encouraged
that this practice becomes a habit).
Understanding
of physical concepts, lecture topics, and textbook topics. Students visiting for these purposes will be
most appreciated.
Feedback
on your TA's performance.
Occasions to seek help from your
section TA (rather than the instructor):
Homework: Questions about grading, solutions to the
problems, lecture and textbook topics.
