Professor Kleiber Research scientist in the lab Professor Kleiber and Professor Young with graduate student
Professor Kleiber, in his lab in Van Allen Hall, setting up a tunable dye laser for studies of photochemical reaction dynamics. Research Scientist Teh-Hwa Wong, aligning a laser in Professor Kleiber's lab in preparation for an experiment to probe quantum effects in molecular collisions. Professor Kleiber (left) and Professor Young (right) in a shared lab, discussing experimental results with a graduate student. We offer students opportunities for interdisciplinary research projects that involve faculty from both Physics and Astronomy and Chemistry.

Graduate student Amy Prince setting up for an experiment to study atmospheric chemical reactions in a lab shared by Professor Kleiber and Professor Young of Chemistry. Professor Kleiber viewing a molecular-collision and reaction-dynamics experiment. The collisions take place in this vacuum chamber, and they are studied using a combination of laser spectroscopy and supersonic molecular beams. Professor Skiff (right) and members of his group, with a laser-induced fluorescence setup used to detect the Doppler shift of ion spectral lines, which is a way of measuring ion velocity in a plasma.

Professor Kleiber (right) and members of his group discussing data from their laser spectroscopy and time-of-flight mass spectrometry equipment. Professor Kleiber (right) with graduate student Yohannes Abate, discussing the operation of a tunable OPO laser. Professor Grassian (left) discussing an experiment to study atmospheric reactions with a graduate student in her laboratory.
