How to Apply

Include the application fee:

  • If you apply by mail, enclose payment with the application form
  • If you apply by Internet, pay the fee at that time with a credit card

3.  Either arrange to have sent, or gather and send with your application, the following:

  to the Office of Admissions to the Department
GRE general test score   Official copy
GRE advanced subject test score   Official copy
Transcripts from all institutions attended after high school Official copy Official copy
3 letters of recommendation
Use our department's recommendation form. If you did not receive this form in the mail, you may print three copies: recommendation_form.pdf

(international students only)

Note: The UI will accept the IELTS exam in lieu of the TOEFL exam for the test of English competency.

Fall Admission January 15 most TA stipends are awarded to students applying for Fall Admission
Spring Admission October 1 fewer TA stipends are available for students applying for Spring Admission
