The Society of Physics Students is an organization designed for any students interested in physics. Meetings usually involve trips to physics labs, dinner at a professor’s house, movie nights, discussions with visiting speakers, etc.
The SPS exists to encourage students to develop skills essential for a professional career that are not necessarily taught in the classroom. These include effective communication skills, social interaction with fellow students, leadership skills, and community outreach, among others. Through SPS, students have an opportunity to not only develop and widen their range of skills, but also to have fun with students who share the same experiences.
